I looked back at my personal journal and was reminded that on February 10 I predicted that Joe Biden would not be the nominee of the Democratic Party for President this year. I still believe that this will be the case. He is losing on every issue with the possible exception of abortion, his cognitive abilities are clearly worsening, his foreign policy and related world leadership are in shambles, he doesn’t understand the economy/inflation issue, and he has no clue and no interest about fixing immigration and the border crisis, which has recently become the leading issue for voters. If he doesn’t begin a drastic turnaround by the time the “protesters” and their fellow traveling anarchists hit the Chicago streets during the Democratic convention in August, he is toast. I have no idea how the Democratic Party would handle such a circumstance. If we had a parliamentary system like the British in 1940, they could do what MP Sir Leonard Avery did–he stood before Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain in Parliament and said “Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go.” It’s almost analogous with Nixon in 1974. Are there any statesmen in the room?
Statesmen are rare in politics. The self-interested are much more popular.
If only our country had one running in either party.
What statesman wants to put themselves through the gauntlet with press, party wings, vetting etc./no wonder they don’t want to run. That said the Democrat’s aren’t stupid and usually have something up their sleeve. Their convention will be entertaining…
As to whether Biden will remain as the Democratic nominee come November, your speculation in February and now is on the money — but it misses the point — The progressive wing of the Democratic party outweighs the rationale wing — if there is anyone left in that wing of the Democratic party — and the progressive wing is absolutely behind Biden as their Party figurehead — a figurehead that is 100% manipulatable by them and the figurehead that the disguised Marxists and its followers have longed for since they started refining their methods to take over the country in the early to mid-60s. For a quick overview, not that you, Brother Jim, and your Texas Pilgrim readers need it, take some time to read, among many others, Christopher Rufo’s book “America’s Cultural Revolution.” He does a thorough job of outlining why we are now where we are and explains the reason behind so many things that seem counter to common sense. Also, I commend everyone to read Victor Davis Hanson’s new book, “The End of Everything,” which just hit the shelves. I haven’t read it yet, but I listen and read all I can when VDH says something. A worthy successor to the title of the Wise Man, formerly held by Charles Krauthammer, currently roiling in Heaven as he watches how quickly this great Country has become a mess.
Jim, I agreed with you in February and still do today. However, I agree with Hondo that he is the choice of the progresses due to their ability to use and control him as a figure head. Because of that, and no viable backup, I can see a path forward for them to keep Biden as their candidate and then ousting him for health reasons within a year if he is elected. Then install his successor as VP and shedding Harris at the end of the term. I believe the deciding factor will be their billionaire masters. If successful that punches all their cards, retaining power for another term, having the first female president, getting rid of her liability in a face-saving way and possibly installing their choice for another eight years. If successful, we’re toast as a free republic. If the majority of democrats actually care about a viable free republic, then they’ll find a way to replace Biden at the convention.
The really amazing thing to me is Biden still has the support of many middle-class citizens, especially suburban women. One of them is my wife’s sister. She runs with six or seven other white women, all single or widowed, living in nice suburban neighborhoods, going on frequent cruises and touting more socialist programs.
Jim–If you want to bet on the election or whether Biden will be the dominee call me at 7134166952. I won a fair amount on the last election. Of course I do not understand how any civilized and thinking person could vote for Trump. He is a clown and has a bad case of narcissistic personality disorder. He cannot be a good leader of people in our nation when he is always thinking of himself. He says he has made no mistakes in his life and has never had to ask for forgiveness. Is he Jesus? Give me a call.
Well David I guess at least one half of the country feels the same way you do and the other one half feels the same way about Biden. By those standards, the whole country is uncivilized and unthinking. The country has managed to survive every president, even Trump and hopefully Biden too.
In 2020, 74,222,960 uncivilized and unthoughtful people thought otherwise!

Who Do You Love?
by Michael Quinn Sullivan
Culture at large tells us we must love and accept ourselves as we are. The doctrine of self-esteem and the creed of self-affirmation have created a generation of narcissists worshiping a false god.
Since at least the 1960s, popular culture has told people that it is OK to embrace and even celebrate their flaws—be that unnatural sexual desire, ravenous gluttony, perpetual laziness, or whatever.
It is spiritual and emotional garbage, physically destructive, and morally bankrupt.
Humanity has long been about the business of attempting to dethrone God by erecting gods in our own likeness, complete with our own failings. It always ends poorly.
This is, in part, why our Founding Fathers rejected the idea that human kings have a divine right to lord over the citizenry. They wisely created a pluralistic republic built on the biblical principles of self-governance.
But self-governance, most literally, means that we must be able to govern ourselves. Yet we have become so infatuated with self-love and self-service that we are trading away our republic. Theoretically, the bargain made between a king and his people was that—when push came to shove—he would trade his life for theirs. In practice, human monarchs have always demanded that their subjects die in defense of the crown.
Only Jesus, guiltless and sinless, took on the kingly duty of self-sacrifice for His people—because He was obedient to His Father and because He loves us more than He loved Himself.
What a contrast to our self-love culture!
So, who did Jesus tell us to love? The Gospel of Mark records Jesus as saying God’s law can be summed up as, first, to “‘love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Notice who I am called to love in Jesus’ summary. First, God and then, others. And…? No, that’s it. What about all the energy that sin says I should direct at loving myself? God says to give that love to others.
Culture says to look out for ourselves first. The Christianized self-help books are better; they say to put ourselves second, presumably behind God. Yet, by my count, I don’t rate any of my own affection when following Jesus’ summation of God’s law.
The law and prophets tell us that we must, in love, serve God and serve others. For our self-governing republic to function as intended, you and I, as the citizen-leaders, must die to ourselves and live for each other.
