Lately, I have been getting a few calls and e-mails from long time suscribers inquiring about the publication, since it has been awhile between my posts. And actually I did spend quite a bit of time during the Christmas holiday season thinking about the future of The Texas Pilgrim, and here is what I have decided: After almost 25 years, 1200 essays, over 250 monthly editions, and a book on the first 20 years, effective this month, the publication will begin a new phase appropriate for this 82 year old—no self imposed publication deadline, just spontaneous posts if and as events and your interests dictate, and still committed to a dialogue on the ideas that drive American culture and politics.
So I’m still here and much appreciative of your encouraging words and continuing support. Meanwhile, all my best wishes for a healthy and prosperous new year. JMW
Jim,
Your prompting thought on issues relevant to our time has been a service to your fellow man and is commendable.
Thanks so much for all you have done which I am sure had an
impact on the better place America will be on Tuesday.
Thank you, Jim. The Pilgrim is priceless in thoughtfulness, judgement and wisdom. I look forward with anticipation to your unscheduled postings. God bless you, our great lone star state, and union. Cheers!
Hell of a run old man, but I think we both have a few laps left in us!
Happy New Year and thanks and best wishes to Lela and the Windham family for giving up personal time to let you spread your thoughts and Windham Wisdom with the rest of us plebians
Friends: Many thanks to you all. I’d like to believe we made a difference. God bless you and yours for the new year. JMW
Jim, I’ll miss your regular essays but agree that retiring to occasionally comments is a better fit of your time after 80+ years. Looking forward to your next post.
Happy New Year.

Continue to write as the Spirit leads, Jim, rather than on schedule.
Just as the LORD said to Jeremiah (14:6b) :
“Behold, I am making My words in your mouth fire
And this people wood, and it will consume them.”
We need you for such a time as this.
Good advice, Ann. Thanks.
Continue to write as the Spirit leads, Jim, not on schedule.
As the LORD said to Jeremiah (5:14b):
“Behold, I am making My words in your mouth fire
And this people wood, and it will consume them.”
We need to hear you for such a time as this.
There comes a time when you must hang up your spurs. It was a good and profitable run. I, personally enjoyed the run.
I am very happy that we will continue to receive your thoughts on the events of the moment and I thank you very much!!
Jim–You have written well and done a fine job. As you know I have disagreed with you often but that is what makes democracy work.
Thanks, David, let us continue.
Jim, reaching 80+ is a milestone in and of itself. I’m looking forward to your spontaneous thoughts as you deem fit to publish or post. I am going to guess that the next post will be about Trump’s speech at his inauguration.
Bob (and I agree with the comment above – even at 80 we still have fire in the belly!!
Trump has essentially been giving the same speech with the same “to do” list on an almost daily basis for two years–it’s performance time.
I’ll be around. JMW
Jim,
We’ll look forward to reading your thoughts on our times for years to come.
Thanks, Kent, for your encouraging thoughts and ideas over the years. JMW
Jim,
Even though I will miss your monthly brilliant essays, glad to see after 25 years you are stepping back from deadlines, and will only write when and if the situation warrants your analysis or viewpoint.
You are a consummate humanitarian and have given indelible contributions to mankind’s welfare throughout your life.
So sit back and enjoy the spontaneity that you have earned.
Hoping the new year, for you and your family, is filled with blessings beyond measure.
