I’ll be brief: My only real takeaway from this event occurred in the first 10 minutes of it, which was to be struck by the question, “Is this all we Americans can produce in terms of the selection of the leader of the free world?” Are these two guys really all that we should expect? Is this what the Founders had in mind for this now 248-year old experiment in self-government? I think not. We owe them an apology for what is a bi-partisan failure of trust. What a sad day.
Gregory Stachura says
Jim,
When the contest for power is the primary goal, the principles established by our Founders are lost.
David Merrill says
Now that is brilliant. I hope you don’t mind if I use it.
Joe Slovacek says
R we better off with crooked Joe than we were 4 years ago with Trump?
You can’t name one thing creepy crooked Joe has accomplished in 3 1/2 years other than destroying USA borders allowing multi millions of unvetted invader!!
Trumps lists of accomplishments are too list for me to list!
Trump is the first business leader to over come the political process controlled by the soros type commies running the country!
If he isn’t reelected, u can count on your essays to be no longer allowed!
MAGA!
Sam Altimore says
Jim, Yes it is a sad day, but as a close friend who was the founder and Chairman of the Board of a S&P500 company once told me when I asked him if he would consider running for Congress: “Why would I ever want to subject my family to the abuse of the public and media to run for Congress?”.
Public office has become a “house of ill-repute” and the target of a low-life media that is out to make headlines, whether they are true or false. Yes, it is a very sad situation.

Danny Billingsley says
Sam, I don’t disagree with you are your friend. However, in my opinion politicians can largely blame themselves for the public’s distain for them and the vocation of politics in general. The counter argument is this: Has the lazy, low information, one issue, handout voter created the sorry stay of politics and the political class. Or is the poor-quality voter a result of the failed, bias, leftist media class. What came first, the egg or the chicken. Mostly likely a combination of all the above.
Danny Billingsley says
Any political candidate, at any level that truly takes on the administrative state, the intelligence apparatus, the social welfare state, boldly addresses the budget, tries to realistically lower the national debt, rebuilds the military, closes the border, broadly addresses immigration, faces down Putin, Xi, Iran, Kim and the woke mob, has to be a little crazy to start with. They WILL be viciously attacked by the media, leftists, socialists, government employees, intelligence community and a lot of republicans. By viciously, I mean worse than Trump was during his first run/term and currently. Truthfully, there may not be another American alive that could stand up to all this. Civil politics is currently dead and could be forever.
Jim Lockart says
I think that the loser in the debate is American public. I agree with Jim W. completely. I am most saddened. I disagree with Mr. Billingsley about the intelligence community. I have a very close, younger friend who is very high in the intelligence community and wishes that more leaders will constructively confront Putin, Xi, Iran, Kim, Maduro, Cuba, and Noriega to name a few. I still have faith that this great country will emerge from this situation. I just hope that it is in my short remaining lifetime.
Ann McCulloch says
I still believe there are “a few good men/women”, who answer the higher call to serve as undeceived voters, politicians, and journalists. Their three arenas are merely combat zones for the deception perpetrated by evil.
