You can go to the archives and look it up: in the almost two years since the appointment of the Special Counsel to investigate the possible collusion of the Trump campaign with Russia, I have not written one word about it. Why? Because intuitively I have believed from the outset that it was primarily a partisan political witch hunt substantially initiated and based on fraudulent so-called “opposition research”, devoid of substantive issues and sustained by a complicit media and fellow travelers in the rogue reaches of the intelligence community willing and eager to overturn the Trump presidency at any cost.
Now that it is over and the final report has been issued, I will say this: to paraphrase President Gerald Ford at the end of the Watergate episode, “our long trumped-up national nightmare is over”, or even better, to quote former U. S. Attorney Joe diGenova, “one of the most shameful chapters of American political history ended — not with a bang, but with stunned silence over the realization that Americans have been fed an utter lie for nearly two years”.
The only collusion and conspiracy in this long and tawdry saga is among the rogue cops in the FBI, the Obama loyalists in the intelligence agencies, the Democratic Party hucksters and flacks, and their co-conspirators in what passes for mainstream journalism, which is now irretrievably corrupted. This has been a complete fraud, and if any damage has been done to our instruments of democracy and the rule of law in America, the blame rests not with Donald Trump, but with this cabal who could not abide the 2016 election outcome that totally destroyed their power base and completely wiped out the Clinton machine. The culpability is with them and this should be the focus of Congressional follow up to Mueller’s engagement, with criminal consequences for those who, from the top of our intelligence and law enforcement agencies, abused their power to perpetrate this scheme, so that nothing like this is ever attempted again.
Vern Wuensche says
Perfectly said. Progressive Democrats and their ilk are a danger to America.
Tim Phillips says
Deep state (including Trump hating RINO pols) coup to remove an elected President. This is not the end, but the end of the beginning.
Hence the heightened attacks on the constitutional electoral college in electing the President of our representative republic, under the false banner of “democracy” that we were never intended to be.

I’ve long thought the summation below was _exactly_ what was transpiring. Bravo!

Steven Tredennick says
Don’t forget the folks at the top of the Justice Department. A curse on all of their houses.
Arthur says
Wouldn’t it be better to wait until the Mueller report is actually available before commenting on it?
I can see commenting on the Barr letter, but not the report. The title of this piece is in error.
As the weeks have passed, there has been a noticeable shift in the administrations’ referencing it. In addition, surveys show that the public’s positions on what it likely points to have not changed. A vocal “exoneration” publicity tour by The President, seems to have convinced no one, who wasn’t already convinced. A solid majority of people who identify with both major parties want to see an un-redacted copy released for public consumption.
If for no other reason, than they paid for it.
