As noted in the new welcome message on the site, subscribers may detect a slight change in delivery of The Texas Pilgrim beginning in January 2022. After almost 22 years, over 230 monthly issues, an output approaching 1,100 essays and a book, at the beginning of the new year I will begin to convert the publication to resemble a traditional blog, with more spontaneous postings and without a self imposed monthly publication deadline.
The purpose will remain the same: to serve as a catalyst for dialogue on the ideas that drive the current events, policy deliberations, politics and cultural trends of the day, along with interesting book reviews and related commentary, because ideas still have consequences. So I hope you will continue to provide your feedback and I thank you for your continuing support and encouragement.

Jordan – Many thanks for your continuing encouragement. As for China and the WTO, at the time it was probably a good idea for them to have a chance to prove that they truly wanted to be a responsible member of the world trading community, which included designation as “most favored nation”. Unfortunately, Xi took a disastrous turn toward the hard line enforced by the CCP. Trump was the first to really call them out on it, but he relied too heavily on tariffs and not enough on the fraudulent trade practices, which seem to be ongoing.
