As if we needed more evidence of the dysfunction inside the Beltway and the duplicity of this White House, former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates gave us a pretty full dose in his recently released book. But, honestly, although his reporting of the details was both educational and painfully enlightening, knowing what we already knew about this President and his administration should have prepared us for this narrative. Obama and his circle simply don’t believe in the productive assertion of U. S. military power in the world as a force for the good. He believes that it is a manifestation of colonialism, which to him is the original sin of the West. As a result, his policies have made America a weaker force for good on earth and the world a much more dangerous place.
